Historical Information

Purchased by Dr. Lester McLachlan in August 1965, Grant Ford, St. Petersburg, Florida. Factory options include: High Performance 289, GT Package, Luxury (Pony) Interior, Tinted Glass and Rally Pak. Dealer installed options by Grant Ford in 1965: Air-conditioning, Ford Tri-Power Cobra Kit. Later purchased by Robert Johnson, Richard Meigs and Top Bishop. This hipo had an abusive race history as a Ford Dealer Sponsored Drag Car (ran in low 13's.) The second owner (Mr. Robert Johnson) worked for a Ford dealership in Florida. It was run hard and put away early with only 35,357 actual miles showing on the odometer. During the restoration, I was able to find a date coded hi-po block and installed the original crank and heads. The NOS tri-power was harder to find, but my goal was to have it just as it was back in August of 1965. I have thoroughly enjoyed researching the old car and talking with others that have the same kind of enthusiasm that we all share as Mustang owners.

About the Owner

I am originally from Houston, Texas. I am 42 years old and have owned six Mustangs in the past. My first car was a red 1966 Mustang coupe. I live in Brussels, Belgium and have met many folks here that are just as crazy as we are. Did you guys know that the early Mustangs were assembled and sold in both Paris and Amsterdam?
