I bought this 67 Mustang in 1995 after hearing from my wife, Margie, say that she liked the earlier models. I was driving and modifying my 95 GT at the time. When I found this car at the Cypress Gardens MCA regional show it already had all the fiberglass parts, badges and Shelby roll bar installed. It looked a little rough due to a severely arched hood and a well-worn paint job. But it looked like it could be brought up to snuff fairly easily.

Since 1995 I have had the hood replaced and the car re-painted in the original candyapple red. Although a previous owner had not installed LeMans stripes I opted to do so this time around. When I bought the car it had a 351W mated to the original C-4 with 3.00 8" rear end. It needed a lot of electrical re-wiring, engine tuning and general maintenance. The C-4 leaked incessantly, the fan belts flew off during an initial road trip, the rear end sang an operatic tune and the interior was in need of re-upholstering.

Since then I have detailed the engine compartment, updated the interior, replaced all the front and rear suspension, installed front power discs, changed the rear end to a 3.50, exchanged the headers for 351W stock manifolds, installed a custom exhaust system and added a CD player. I finally got the a/c and heat to work for the first time since we bought the car. Just last weekend I removed the leather seats from my 95 GT and transplanted them into the 67 Clone. I'm getting ready to install Shelby-style Y-harnesses, an Auto Meter instrument panel and, some day soon, a fold-down seat.

Margie and I finally have this car in the condition that we've always wanted. Now it's time to put some serious cruising miles on it. We'll be driving it down to Tucson in April for the Mustang Mania show and from there I'll be taking her out to S. California for the Knott's show. I'm almost to the point where I can shift my full attention to the restoration of my 70 SCJ-R Sportsroof.
