I found this 1968 Fastback in Yuma, Arizona in October of 1999.

It had been bought by the previous owner as a parts car 14 years

earlier. Although the engine and transmission were long gone, the car was in relatively good shape without a trace of rust. The front clip was still recognizable, but not salvageable after a :head on" with an immovable object. After I lured the unfriendly dog away from the only home he'd ever known, dug the car out of 14 years of blowing sand, and paid the owner the handsome price of $450, three friends and I coaxed it onto a trailer. The front suspension and clip were replaced. The FB was hand sanded of it's original Acapulco Blue and repainted the same color in January, 2000 with the addition of the 2" cowl hood and side scoops. Drivetrain consists of a '70 351C 4V quench chamber motor that I had rebuilt prior to purchase of the car, FMX tranny and 9" trac-loc rear-end. The remains of the silver blue interior were removed,

repainted and replaced with a custom blue/white combination. Other than the final front-end alignment, all repairs/renovations were done by myself.

The car was completed 4 months after the purchase date and subsequently driven across the country as part of a job transfer. 2,561 miles in 26 driving hours, it was a very fun ride...The FB now sees limited driving, but is always ready for the occasional Saturday night cruise.
