: I am restoring a '70 Mach 1 that has not been on the road in 18 years. Question: What do I do about the gas tank & fuel lines? The car spent most of the time in doors and is not rusted out. Visually, the tank & lines look ok, but I wonder if they might have rust on the inside. Should I just remove the tank and flush out tank & lines, or replace the tank, or replace the lines, or replace both? Car came with a 22 gal tank (I think).

Flush the tank, it only takes a small amount of
rust to cause problems. Completely sand the
outside of the tank, rust proof the outside
with Corroless, paint with Spray Gray or Tank
paint. (all products available from Eastwood Co). Its alot of work, but it look
very Clean and Nice. (you don't want any rust
anywhere). Brake and Fuel lines replace with
Stainless Steel, Classic Tubes will pre-bend all
tubes for your car for under $250. They look nice,
no worry, no rust. Hope this helps.
