    You need to keep the flywheel from turning and can be done by placing a large screwdriver between a pressure plate bolt and the dowel on the block. There's actually a tool for this purpose but I have better results with other methods. Or an impact wrench, if one's available. Battery operated...

    Why not simply put an eyelet on the red wire from the tach, the one looking for switched 12v, and connect it to the post on the back of the ign switch, where wire #297 goes? No hacking necessary. For the light, I believe there is a '3 hole' female connector near the radio for this purpose...
