Dave, Concerning you rear seal problem I actually changed mine with the engine in the car about 20 years ago. I disconnected the idler arm and steering linkage and pulled it down. This allowed me the remove the stock pan without lifting the engine. I had to rotate the crank by hand to clear the journals with the pan. I then loosened the main caps. I was able to use a small drift pin and push on one side of the seal. The seal slid around the crank enough to where I could get a hold of it with plies and pull it out. I oiled up the new one and slowly walked it in by hand. I put some permatex on the ends of the bottom seal and put it back together. It worked great for me. Good luck.
