  1. Seat belts, roll bars and rear seat passengers. What's the real deal?

    Vintage Mustang Forum
Baby and booster seats are not designed to be used with only a lap belt. I don't know of any booster seats that would work without a shoulder belt in place. A baby seat with the LATCH system would be comparatively easy to install, using the lap belt for the lower anchor and then hooking the...

And you probably eliminated 18" or more of webbing at the same time. Nice work

The angle of the shoulder sash looks much improved from before. And judging by Austin's expression, it also has a groovier fit :-) Does Andover's 8403B kit include the buckle end and webbing (the short side that mounts to the transmission tunnel)?

X2 on the Canons. If you buy a model at the end of its product cycle they will often be marked down at least a third but still be new in box w/ full warranty. I bought a 4MP Canon A520 like that last year for less than $200 and its been a great camera.

Hi Jon, In 3, I meant the complete sets like you picture. Agree this looks like the very best choice for your application. Great work chasing down this source. Do they have longer sash guides available? If the sash guide/ext. at 8 inches ends up too short, then the other option to take this...

Functionally, assuming the sash belt pivot was bolted to the extension with Grade 8 fasteners, seems it would "work" however, 1 - it would be difficult to cover the attachment bolt and nut and keep it from looking improvised 2 - any vinyl covering would not be purpose-built to cover the two...

My Dad drove his/my car from Seattle to Washington DC in the spring of 2001; he was 70 years old at the time and had a blast. You should definitely do this, it will make memories that last a lifetime and you'll meet some great people along the way.

Very nice looking, goes great with your interior. Is there a Recaro parts number on them?

Andover's page that includes the setup John posted Retrofit Retractable w/Pushbutton Buckle shows that you can order many of the elements separately EXCEPT for the male side, which includes the inertia reel, webbing, sash guide extension, and tongue. So unless you know in advance that your...

Did you provide a bill of sale that both parties signed? If not, I believe the signed-over title itself constitutes a bill of sale. He'd have a hard time proving much outside that.

Hi Peter, The Econoline seat belt setup in mine, which includes the reel, webbing, sash belt extension, and tongue, can be hard to find. I finally replaced my salvage yard set with a new one from Ford, which is an improvement because then I know the webbing has never been stretched in a wreck or...

The shoulder belt setup in the Fox body and later Mustang convertibles was designed from the get-go to be compliant with the FMVSS, so I'm not implying they are lacking. What I'm saying is that mounting a plastic sash belt guide from them, using two philips head screws to a seat not designed...

BTW, the use of sets incorporating the sash guide extension along the lines of what Johnpro mentioned has been discussed many times, most recently and in detail this month in the Mod and Custom Forum thread 3-Point Seatbelt Talk with Pictures (Dial-Up Warning) I'd like to see photos of...

The late-model Mustang seatbelt loops should be viewed as a comfort item only. Used alone they will not provide the correct geometry for the shoulder sash belt in vintage mustangs. Look, they are held into the seat frame with two phillips heads screws. Schroth, using FIA Standard 8854/98...

Looking good! Did you use the original seat tracks and just have to drill new holes in the late model seat frames?

This viewpoint requires one to assume and hope that in a collision the shoulder belt maintains its position and restrains the upper torso. If it slips off the shoulder, as it is apt to do because the top anchor point is well below the shoulder, the inertia reel would not lock and the driver...

David, the pieces are 12" long. In my case, where they mount to a Juliano's L-bracket bolted to the chassis where the convertible frame is mounted, puts the sash belt loop just above and behind my shoulder. The bolt on the extension arm is the standard 9/16th fine thread commonly used on seat...

Yes, rather, I should say that is what I recommend doing and what I will do after I complete installing the new part on my driver's side. In the install pics linked in my signature and profile, you'll see that the passenger side set from the Econoline has a dogleg in the extension arm that puts...
