  1. Time to replace my leaf springs... not looking forward to it

    Vintage Mustang Forum
I did mine a year ago and here is a technique I would want to share. Maybe it is helping. If the bolt is frozen, you can easily cut the head with a grinder. Reapply the nut with some washers on the other side of the bolt and tighten the nut. By tightening the nut the bolt might break free and...
  2. Good deal for a fastback?

    Vintage Mustang Forum
$20k is what people ask for a coupe in the Bay Area ... If the car is solid I would go for it.
  3. T/S housing with temp port

    Vintage Mustang Forum
I installed a thermostat housing with additional part one year ago. My goal was to have a more accurate monitoring of the temperature without loosing the appearance of the dashboard. I installed a Autometer temperature gauge under the dashboard and connected it to the intake manifold sender. My...

    General Discussion (Non-Vintage Mustang)
+1 for Autorestomod Manic Mechanic Gasoline Media I also like EricTheCarGuy but it is not related to classics. I like the way he explains stuff.

  7. Exhaust system and mufflers

    Vintage Mustang Forum
In my experience videos (see link from @patrickstapler or youtube) are a good starting point. However, it will sound different in the real world. Try to attend Mustang meet ups or cruises, see that you like and talk to the owner what he/she is running. It depends on many factors (compression...
  8. 289 Tuning Post Engine Break In

    Vintage Mustang Forum
Just to add, go with 1/8 steps on the screws and wait a bit until it settles. I also back off a bit if I reached max vacuum. I personally think there is nothing wrong to use a vacuum gauge. You can see and learn a lot, especially if you are not an expert in tuning an engine. Experienced guys...

  10. switching to Dual master cylinder on 66 mustang

    Vintage Mustang Forum
Disconnect the rear brake line from the distributor and plug the port. The front brakes will be handled via the distributor and the rear directly from the master cylinder (front port). Do you have drums or disc/drums? If discs you need a different master cylinder and a proportioning valve.

  14. New mustang owner here.....

    Vintage Mustang Forum
I converted my front drums to disks around two years ago. My main reason was I wanted a dual bowl master brake cylinder for safety reasons. I used the kit from CSRP and changed the brake pads to EBC red stuff. Now I super happy with the setup. I personally also don't see a need for power...
  15. STOLEN IN SOCAL YESTERDAY

    Vintage Mustang Forum
I am sorry to hear :) My friends daily driver got stolen a couple of weeks ago. We posted a lot on Instagram about the car and someone saw the car two days later and called the cops. The car was in a good shape, only dirty. I know some guys here are against FB, Instagram and so on, but I think...
  16. Water Pump----paint or not

    Vintage Mustang Forum
I asked myself the same question a few month ago. I decided to paint it the same color as the engine (Ford blue). My engine is blue at the bottom and silver/aluminum at the top (valve covers, air filter and intake manifold). Came out great in my opinion. If you paint, use high quality paint. I...
  17. Need help with engine oil for 2 different engines

    Vintage Mustang Forum
Here is a trick you can try to safely change oil without jack stands. Find a street with a sidewalk and park the car so that the passenger side wheels are on the sidewalk and the driver side wheels on the street. This should give you enough clearance to place an oil pan under the engine. Worked...
  18. z-bar install, '66 289 4v

    Vintage Mustang Forum
^^^ No worries, it is not complicated to install the Z-bar with the engine and exhaust in the car. But the front on jack stands and work from underneath the car (at least this is how I do it). I didn't use any special grease, just something sticky to hold in place.
  19. Low pressure in new Disc Brake conversion.

    Vintage Mustang Forum
Glad to hear you have a firm pedal. Line seems a bit short. As suggested, add a loop. I guess you are running NiCopp lines? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
