I missed that this topic was about a 1970, I was thinking 65-66....
  2. Best mod for safety

    Mod and Custom Forum
Brake upgrades, especially the "jelly jar" single-pot master cylinder to a Dual Reservoir master cylinder are the best safety investment. I experienced a sudden failure of one back in the late 70's and was lucky not to wreck as I unintentionally went thru a red light making a left turn on the...

    Vintage Mustang Forum
rhutt, where is there a "mustang Salvage Yard"? I live near Los Angles, so not too awful far from NPD in Ventura. Just wondering where that Salvage yard you mentioned might be.... thank you, Allen 66FB
  4. Best place to get Mustang parts ??

    Vintage Mustang Forum
Sometimes the part will dictate the source. I've mostly used CJP & NPD and both have been great. Had a bad experience with Dallas Mustang earlier this year. Virginia Mustang staff are great, very friendly and helpful. They have an exclusive on a Radio Suppressor Capacitor that is connected under...
  5. Will a Higher Amp Alternator Require Wiring Upgrade?

    Vintage Mustang Forum
To add to my second post, I did find a mess in the wiring under the dash, spliced & cut wires which I cleaned up and redid as best I could follow wiring diagrams found online. Also replaced the Headlight switch, got all the Dash & Courtesy Lights working (except for the AM Radio). The fuse box...
  6. Will a Higher Amp Alternator Require Wiring Upgrade?

    Vintage Mustang Forum
Thank you for the reply, I just got the car a few months ago. Recently put in a new battery but have been having to keep putting that on a charger. When I've run it at night the headlights seem to be dim at low idle (stop signs). The headlights are regular, not Halogen, and it has the original...
  7. Will a Higher Amp Alternator Require Wiring Upgrade?

    Vintage Mustang Forum
Having Charging issues on my Stock 66 289 2V Auto Fastback. Considering upgrading to a Higher Amperage Alternator. Wondering how high of an upgrade over Stock Amperage Alternator would require heavier gauge wires. At least to the Voltage Regulator... Anyone have to deal with or research this...
  8. What in the cornbread he** ?

    General Discussion (Non-Vintage Mustang)
Hey 65 Pony, you hit the nail on the head. It is too expensive out here in California, and crowded freeways to boot! A lot of people here talk about retiring somewhere else (Texas is really popular). I just recently got my 66 FB, had a 65 coup years ago, can't wait to get it in shape to take to...
  9. 1965 Fastback Air Extractor Gaskets

    Vintage Mustang Forum
Hello, My 66 Fastback didn't have the drain hoses that the 65's had attached to the water tray behind the rear quarter vents, just a piece of plastic sheeting. I was hoping to attach the drain hoses for the 65's I bought from CJ Pony Parts but the design of the water tray in the 66 doesn't have...
  10. 66fb mystery hot wire & bad radio spliced wire

    Vintage Mustang Forum
Thank you awhtx, I guess it's not surprising to find "Hacked" Wiring in a 50year plus car. Time to go thru it all carefully, and buy a couple of fire extinguishers to keep on hand in case of the worst happening! Just found some more spliced wires over by the fuse box.... YIKES!
  11. 66fb mystery hot wire & bad radio spliced wire

    Vintage Mustang Forum
Thank you for the reply Acooljt, I eliminated the splice on the Pink wire and wrapped it securely with electrical tape. I was able to find an open Black wire that is only HOT with Auxiliary and Ignition ON key settings to power the Radio. And I secured the Open Hot wire with a lot of electrical...

???Hello all, This is my first post here on this site. I've been reading many posts on various subjects as I've just started working on a recently purchased 66 Fastback (V8 Automatic).. Runs, drove it to Los Angeles from San Diego with no issues. I was happy to see that the original AM radio...
