Well I just got a 73' Stang and I haven't been able to find any 1/4 times. Its got a 302, 2 barrel carb, just a single exhaust and it's auto . Anyone have any idea what it would run? Sorry for being a newb lol.
In the 16 second range around 90 miles per hour if you're lucky, but if the motor isn't new and your car isn't in perfect tune, you might be really close to 17 second Civic territory. The 1973 model was a land whale rivaled only by Cadillacs... ::
I've wondered about this same question. What do you my Natalie would do in the 1/4 mile? She's has the stock rear end and a 351C-2v. Dual exhuast, stock manifolds, but it has flowmasters (I didnt do the exhaust. I bought it like that. If it wouldve been me, I wouldve gotten her headers). And, a C4 tranny. Whatcha' think?
I've ran low 16-high 15s without a hopped up exhaust. my engine is chocked up so much buy the exhaust logs and single pipe that It's expected to gain atleast 20 with headers,x-pipe, dual 2-1/4 manderal pipes. witch would allow low or mid 15s then with the new gt40x heads are going to rasie that a bit too.
I seen in a old hot rod where a 1972 mach1 with a 351C 2v, C-6, 3.25 traction lok, turned a 15.4 @ 90MPH. The car had over 100,000 miles on it also. By swaping to a performer 4v for 2v heads and a 600 holley it turned a 14.96 @ 92.
I've taken a first step and narrowed my project towards a 66 or 69. I'd also consider 67 and 68, but with the mods I'd like to make, unless a deal comes along, they are out of reach at the moment.
Been looking for about 6 months to field the market but I'm not ready to buy till early next...

In the terms of performance from the 289, a good 4b carb and intake is a gimmie.
But what's the 289 biggest weakness? My wild guess would be the heads?

I am converting my steering to the Borgeson power steering box and am ready to modify my steering column, with only one problem. Since I did not read the directions before tearing out the old steering, :rolleyes:, I did not measure the shaft dimension before removal. Does anybody...
