A new MSD distributor just went in and noticed that positioning the distributor face forward (with label and part number towards radiator) places the number "1" position on the towards the front (radiator). The old stock distributor had the "1" towards the rear (air cleaner). New rotor still points to the same spot it did when I pulled the old one out. Do I continue and connect the wires accordingly to this new direction? Does any one have a connection diagram for part#8582. I hope this makes sense....

It sounds to me like you have the distributor housing installed 180 degrees out. The no 1 position should be to the rear. The pick-up wires on my MSD distributor are on the back left side when looking from the front of the car.
Ultimately it wouldn't matter as long as you had the plug wires in the right order starting with no 1 where the rotor is pointing.

Good choice on Distributors. The thing will turn 360 degrees without pulling it. I'd just turn the engine to TDC, unplug the dist, & twist it around until it all lines up, that way you won't have funny looking plug wires. What are you trying to wire it up to?

You can have the number 1 wire connected to the dist cap anywhere you want. Just maintain the proper firing order when attaching the rest. Make sure the rotor is lined up properly and pointing at number when you start it up.

Thanks for your reply, I'm installing a 6AL box, MSD blaster 2 coil, and a all new MSD 8.5mm wires.
