After fabricating a functioning back-up light switch, hunting through a junk yard for the harness and getting it all hooked up and working, I can't get the correct bulbs for a 69!! They are 1142's, none of the local PEP Boys, Autozone or Hi-Lo's stock them at all, what is the deal, they have at least 20 other types? Anyway, until I find somewhere that realizes 1969 Mustangs still exist and have back-up lights the map lights (1004) also work in their place, though not as bright I imagine.

I have to admit I didn't try NAPA after my third strike, there is a NAPA not to far from home, I'll try them out. The Haynes book I have also listed a 1156 as a brighter alternative to the 1142, the stores had these but they couldn't work due to the connector type - 1 pin rather than two.

I think the 67-70 all use the same backup lamp housing only the lenses are different, but with the same housing they would use the same lamp. The 71-73 must be different.
