I am gathering parts to convert my '66 FB back to 4 speed status & still need a flywheel. My brother has a 167T flywheel he had taken off of a 289, which he still has. This flywheel has a C5xx part number. I know big blocks have a larger diameter flywheel that needs the special "bulged" bellhousing for clearance. My brother has had several of these BB bellhousings, they are desireable. I've heard of the 157 / 160T count for 289s, but not the 167T. What is the deal w/ a 167T count ?? Are there pro / cons with the 167T ?? Thanks for your help in advance. Dean

Never heard of a 167 tooth flywheel for a small block. Are you sure it is 167 and not 164 tooth? The 157 tooth flywheel will only take up to 10 1/2" clutch where the 164 tooth will take an 11" clutch. If it were me I would want to go to the 11" clutch and use the 164 tooth flywheel. You will also need a matching bellhousing for what ever flywheel you go with. The bellhousings are different for the 157 and 164 tooth flywheels.

Okay, so it MUST be a 164T, not 167T. My brother said he counted twice, I did not count at all. So then, how do tell the difference between the two different bellhousing ?? I have 2 bellhousing w/ part number C5DA-6394-A which I guess are the smaller ones. What is the part number for the large bellhousing ?? Dean
