This non-running Mustang is California DMV registered as non-operational (non-op) with a clean California title. Records show the non-op status started on 11/16/1997 and the last DMV notice indicates non-op or registration (if desired) status is through 11/16/2021.

The odometer reads 87947.5 miles.

This Mustang is being sold “as is” with the Mustang parts shown in the photographs, and the spare bucket seats.

This is a Ford, San Jose, California assembly plant car. It is believed to have spent its entire life in the greater Sacramento/Folsom area. There is nothing more classic that a “poppy red” 1965 California Mustang Convertible.

A question came up on this cars present state.
The pictures posted and of the 'car' and 'parts' links to hundreds of pictures, are current. Taken just a few weeks ago.

The 'vintage" pictures link, show the car circa 1995.

It has been isn a dry garage ... on jack stands ... since.

I installed the axles into the rear, but NOT the new or original diff ("pig") as I cannot lift them !
The idea being, the buyer can lower the car to the garage floor and roll it to a trailer on the driveway.

I do not know if the brakes work, but with the driveshaft and diff OUT of the car, it can 'roll" and could 'roll away' ... hence it remains on the jack stands.

The floor jack in the pictures can be used to lower the car to the garage floor, but its NOT part of the sale/purchase. Same with the jack stands.


The 'point" is ... this is a solid, all items there as best I can determine ... Mustang.
The parts pictures show additional parts, which the new buyer may use, or sell themselves, based upon what they want to do within this car.


Finding a Mustang with all the original parts, knobs, switches, top trim, etc ... is rare. This one has it "all there" and in good condition.

We think any buyer will yank the engine and trans, refresh the engine, even with some hotter cams and a new/different intake, put on some headers.
If they do not want the automatic ... install the period 4-speed ... bolt-on deal ... . It has what appears two (2) center consuls: Automatic and 4-speed.
Brakes? Simply install new disc brakes and a dual master .... as readily available from many suppliers.

The existing exhaust looks good ... with the pipe coming out under the rear valance, as they did on the K-code hiPo cars.

Personally, I'd remove the old brake lines and fuel lines, and just buy the new ones.
If I cannot mention a supplier, easy to FIND them online.
All comes complete, perfect fit and ready to install (NOT expensive).
Same with the fuel lines.
Same with, for example the '65 fuel tank, if the existing is not wanted, yet it looks good ... for $166 ... all new everything.

If a buyer did this, they'd spend no more than $10k-15k ... and such a car on BaT will sell for $45-55,000.
If one did not want to spend that ... then they can do less ... and stil have a nice driver '65 Mustang Convertible, V8.

A "hotter" V8, '65 4-spped convertible ... is a very desirable car.
The "beauty" with this one is ... it has ALL the OEM items. No hunting for parts !!
Lots of extra parts ... in those pictures.

Bring a truck and trailer ... load it up.

Actually, I see that the latest trend is to install a 5-speed in these vintage Mustangs.
Such a gearbox (manual or automatic) makes for not only a "cruise" and "cars & coffee" car, but as a road-trip car.

This Mustang has Air Conditioning, as seen in the pictures, so even more-so as a trip car in this modern era.
