There's a couple of springs inside that help the return from START to RUN, IIRC. Is that what you are talking about?
I can't help much, as I carefully disassembled my ignition switch, and replaced it, copying over from the old unit. Never did take notes, nor are they in the Shop Manual. Just experiment around until it seems to work correctly prior to actual wire hookup after installing it in the dash.
