Greetings-

1965 Ford Mustang Convertible 289 wouldn't start yesterday in P so it started in N. Today wouldn't start in either (but the radio and power turns on) by this I mean I turn key to start and nothing cranks or happens. No noise except radio and power turning on. So I jumped the solenoid (pics below) and it started. Drove to dry cleaners, turned car off, then it started in P. Drove to next stop turned off, then in started in P. Im getting this periodically. Battery tests at 12.90, new ignition, new solenoid, new starter. What am I missing here? Have the neutral safety switch tested/adjusted? Thanks for any help or info.

Sounds like your neutral start switch needs to be adjusted or may be failing.

I second that opinion, Neutral safety switch. When I got mine all put together after tearing it all apart, it would only start in N, I had to fuss with the adjustment of the Neutral safety switch several times to get it to start in P and N.
