Sometimes (more often than not), after I get to temperature and sit in traffic for a bit, it tends to idle rough. Near the point of dying. Tonight it did the same thing, but also started to go "whomp, whomp" when I hit the gas. In the winter, this normally does not happen, but now that we are getting a little warm down here in Texas, it seems to be happening more often. Not sure what's going to happen when its 100 degrees out.

I'll take any and all suggestions (easy ones first though ;) )

Fuel in the carb is boiling. Get an insulating spacer (NOT a metal one) that is as thick as possible taking hood clearance into consideration.

Have one of those Phelalic spacers and it keeps the carb cool. I also replaced the fuel line from the pump to carb (the one I had was zig zagging across the top of the engine) with one from Mustang Barn designed for use with Edelbrock carb. Is there a way to check to see if the coil is the problem (getting hot) without just replacing it?
