Guys,
On this site, there is a pic of a 1966 Shelby that is supposed to be Sappire Blue. Is this the correct color? On the '66 Shelby pic links here on VMF, the color looks a lot lighter.

Thats the site. Compare the last pic to the pics on the VMF post. It seems different. I am about to paint my 1966 Shelby Clone and I want to be right about this.

The paint code for 1966 Shelby sapphire blue is Rinished-Mason # A-1787. If you have your paint supplier cross-reference this number you will have the correct color.
You should not use pictures to get the "right" color because the lighting and camera settings can differ, making the same color look different.

ok, I do repsect that cameras and lighting vary...but it is clear that the two cars in these pics are NOT the same color. I know I will be able to get the correct color, I just wanted to know which one of those two cars IS the correct color so I know what to expect.

This is a correct Sapphire Blue, although it's not a 66 Shelby. ;)

Are you talking about my car:

If so, the only real problem the car had when I bought it was it had the worlds worst paint job - had been painted at least 3 times in its life before coming into my hands. So, I wouldn't judge by that old Sapphire paint job on there... it was not only incorrect for my car (originally a Wimbledon White car and is now back to that color) but who knows what the actual blue they used was - it was close to Sapphire...

That's my car and the difference is sun angle.... the damnned thing changes shades as the sun moves across the sky... compare these two shots of the same car... one is backlit, the other is lit form the front.

I wish I had a white car like Bob..!

wow, well thanks everyone for all your help on this color issue. Once again my major problem was the one pic on the VMF site vs. the reference pics on another site. That's all cleared up now. I like the Sapphire Blue, I just am not sure if I want something darker or not. That nightmist is such a nice color, so even if it isnt correct, I might go with that.
Once again...thanks for the assistance.
