I am restoring a 1966 convertible 289 2v single exhaust. I have an NOS driver-side hanger but have looked for months for an NOS or even concours-correct passenger-side hanger. None of the reproductions (even Scott Drake's) that are available through the various parts sources seem to have the correct supporting brackets on the inside of the rubber insulator. I have a good core original hanger and am looking for a source of the OEM rubber used as the insulator so I can restore the original hanger.

Does anyone know of a source for the rubber; it looks like corded rubber in strips about 2" X 9"?

A lot of those old muffler hangers looked like the rubber part was cut from a tire.

Find an old bald tire and cut it up. Rivets from Grainger.

I have two hangers with the rubber you need. They may even be the right hangers. PM me if you still need them.
