A little off topic. GM actually used the 3.03 3 speed in some of their big block cars. Back in the 60's GM had internal rules on what body styles could run what engine and transmission choices so there wouldn't be completion between models. Some Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Buick weren't allowed to use 4 speeds behind the big blocks. They were allowed to use a 3 speed but their 3 speed manuals weren't strong enough. So GM bought the 3.03 Toploader 3 speed for them.

All 3.03's are not the same. The Mustang is long, with the shift points at the back of the tail shaft. A 3.03 out of, for example, an Econoline Van, basically does not have a tail shaft.
