Would a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 be a good choice of a car to fix up and restore to best cond? I am asking because I just got an email from a guy that read one of my posts and he told me that his bro. was selling one for $4750. He sent me a pic. The body look real nice (except for a little rust that he mentioned to me), It is Black. Well Tell me what you think...

The Mach 1 is definately worth restoring. What options does it have. My 69 Mach 1 is a 351 4v, auto. Candy apple red with Black int. Folding rear seat. I only paid $2500.oo for mine. It need some rust repair but it's not to bad. The car came with about another $2000.oo worth of spare parts-2 extra doors, 3 hoods, 2 trunks, rear deck spoiler(Factory),2 sets of chrome ralleys,2 pairs of deluxe black door panel(nice with no tears),nos rear taillite panel, and about another dozen boxes of parts.
You really haven't told us enough to make a good suggestion. If you can provide the VIN and complete condition of the car then we can be of more help. In general terms a 69 is not the cheapest Mustang to build (really don't think you plan or want a restored Mustang)

Remember things add up quickly and on this specific model door panels and dashpads are not cheap (new dash pads have to be bring $800-1000) But then just one part does not mean not to buy the car only part of the picture.

Get back to us and we'll help

If its running, has minimal rust, the options a a moot point -- pick it up. I've seen many fastbacks go for that kind of coin easy and paid $3000 for mine sans engine (bought for the core car which has very little rust).

Yes it will cost money to restore, but most of the tasks involved are simple, if a bit time consuming so you should be able to handle this yourself. Also I find if you have some extra toys/items laying around look in the local bargain finder and you'll likely find ppl willing to exchange services for your old junk :). I know a guy locally with over 20 yrs resto experience who does great work for extra parts/etc... Theres always a way if your willing to put in the time, if not then buy a completed car it'll cost far less.

Be sure to check the floors. A car can look great on the outside with new paint. It's the things you can't see that kill you.

The 1969 Mach 1 was one of the best looking muscle cars ever built. It may be a bit more expensive to restore than the earlier mustangs and not all parts are easy to find, but you'll have a unique muscle car that everyone will appreciate. If it is in good shape, go for it....
