hi all,
last week i traded a $300 car dolly to a friend for a 1972 merc marquis brougham with a 460 4v in it. after a little research, it looks like it was the first year for the 460. some books show it in the lincoln only, and some show it in the mercury. anyone have any info on this motor? value? would it be special because of first year? do i put it in my '70 mustang coupe? any thoughts and opinions would be appreciated.
take care until later,
bob

This was a luxury motor, loads of torque, dependable. A lot of similarity between it and a 429. It may not fit as well as a FE, but I have seen them shoehorned in 67-68 fastbacks, so with some creativity, it should fit as a 701 bay is larger. Not real valuable, but a good start. With that much torque, a mild build ( mild cam, intake, headers) will make a dependable street screamer cheaply. :)

I had a 460 in a 70 fastback with a 4-speed. Very fast in a straight line but don't try to hang any corners to fast. I miss that car. :(
