I didn’t know that. So, what is different on a Mach 1 engine compartment that a different frame mount would be required? I mean, the 73 didn’t have any unique engines or trans to go with it. And, I don’t see calling out a Mach 1 for upper and lower control arms, etc stuff like that. Just wondering.

Honestly, I don’t know what’s different on the 73, but something was changed on the last year of the First Generation Mustang. Also, I am amazed that no one carries new motor mounts for the 73 351C.

To me those look kinda like the earlier version, just with that clamp around them. If they are shorter you could probably space the frame perches up with some steel, although I’m not familiar with the 71-73 nuances….

My rebuilt engine has a lot more torque than the original 2-barrel engine, so I need to replace the motor mounts. I did read about some modifications to some newer mounts. I bought the car in 1977, when I was 16-years old and am just having it restored. Needless to say, I am excited!

The 73s had a unique captive motor mount, which prevented the engine from moving in the chassis in the event of a severe accident. The frame perches were modified to accommodate the mounts, and will not accept the earlier style mounts.
