hi
i was just thinking about this. are all 289 engines created equal? do some of them have more power or torque than others? im not talking about hipos i mean a codes and all that. will most 289s in a standard 1967 coupe be the same? how can i tell the difference between them, the vin?

For the most part, yes, they're all created equal. The only differences in the 289 over the years was the 5 bolt bellhousing pattern prior to mid '65, and the rail rockers being introduced sometime in '66, and the change in the water pump somewhere around '66. IIRC, some of the '68's had lower compression, but don't have any manual here at work to look that up.

I'm a computer programmer/systems administrator/DBA/network administrator. I was just checking to make sure our internet is up and running ... that's my story and I'm sticking to it! ::
