If a swap in a new 302 motor in 65 Mustang that already
has a new dual exhuast system that was fitted up to 289
Exhaust manifolds, will this work ? Are the 289 manifolds
the same as 302? Thanks, CDC

as far as i know its basically the same engine with a longer stroke. but those 289 manifolds really are no good and should be replaced with headders. thats what i did anyways. its worth the effort.

Yep, no problem your 289 manifold will bolt right on a 302. Once area of interest you may look at is the ports for air injection if the 302 is a smog motor. You may have to get some small allenhead plugs (I believe they are fine thread too, sounds like a good hunt for parts!) to plug them.
Do a search on previous posts concerning this subject.

Good luck

They'll bolt right up. Remember to attach the manifold to the exhaust pipe before bolting it to the head on the drivers side. If you bolt it to the head first you can't get a wrench on the nut closest to the block, or at least I couldn't when I made this doofus move.
