That pan gasket under the intake is to keep oil from getting to the intake. No oil in the pan gasket, the oil drains into the lifter valley from the heads. The seal can be tapped in by lightly tapping around with a soft hammer or something bigger than the crank snout but smaller than the seal. I'd also put a little oil on the seal. No oil in the pan gasket you have a dry intake and heat should be kept away.Did I make my point?
