Just installed this distributor in a 70 351C. It is supposed to take the hei cap and came with a 3 prong plug (3male)...with a red wire, a blue wire and a black.
No instructions with it and according to the Summit site it does not need a box. Anyone use one of these?
I'm thinking i'll grab the female side of the plug at a junkyard or see if PICO makes it and wire from there. I'm assuming black is a ground, red to the positive side of the coil with the hot keyed ignition and the blue to the negative side of the coil??

Thanks..John

Summit lied. You need a box. It has an HEI-style CAP, it's NOT an HEI distributor.

Yes because it doesn't have the coil in the cap. So i'm assuming i can hook this up to a Duraspark11 box or maybe even a MSD box.
Thanks for the response Woodchuck.

Looking at the info on the Internet it appears that the 66965 distributor has a DurasparkII plug on it.

Yes Bart. That's exactly what it has..a Duraspark II plugin on it. So, i'm either going to hook it up to a box or get a msd ready to run distributor.
Of course the old duraspark II is a great distributor too.
Thanks..John
