From Edelbrock's website:

Ford 289-302 V8s require Head Bolt Bushings #9680 and either Edelbrock Head Bolt Kit #8552 (7/16") or stock head bolts.

Hope this helps.

In the old days (before one could buy everything) I used hard washers under the head bolts with no problems...

This is similar to the washers supplied with stud kits, which also utilize normal 7/16" studs even when used with the W heads....

The washers spread out the clamping force, given the larger hole in the W head....the dowel sleeves at the ends of the head are what locate it accurately...

Any industrial supplier will have the washers, often known as grade 8 washers....

If it was me, I'd just get some hardened (grade 8) washers from my industrial supplier and call it good...there is plenty of engagement area on the head bolts to allow for the thickness of a washer..

I built my first racing engine with W heads that way and had no problems.....except I forgot to seal the screw-in stud threads and ended up with an elusive milkshake in the valvetrain area only...*G*

Hey, I was young and ignorant...hehehe
