Hi all,
390fe oil filter touching i guess over size sway bar. Whats the cure please?

The correct 390/428 sway bar has a sharper bend in it.

Otherwise, you'll need to go with a remote filter.

I have the same issue. The filter just barely touched the bar so it's not really a problem. I have a 1" front bar. Yes the original bar had a sharper bend but also was only 7/8". I know a smaller filter is taboo to some people but curious if the FL-400s would work.

Saw that issue more than once at Global and JBA. There really wasn't a "quick & dirty" fix for that deal.
Somebody hand drew a smiley-face next to that part number in the Addco book in our catalog rack.......

In this case it seems the issue is the aftermarket sway bar. FYI, 67/68 bars are shaped differently than 69/70.

From your picture I can’t tell how high up on the can the interference is. If it’s in the lower 1/3 of the filter can, you might try a Motorcraft FL300 filter. It’s about a 1/3 shorter, with the same mount dimensions as the FL1.

Ford used them on 5.0 Police service Mustangs, as the added oil cooler sandwich extended the filter into the rack.
