I have a '66 with an A-code engine (Ford carb.), and I'm pretty sure the secondary barrels aren't kicking in. I replaced the secondary diaphragm (the old one had a hole in it), but it doesn't look like it would hold a vacuum cause it just sort of flops between the cover and carb. Is there supposed to be a gasket in there somewhere?

I know on a holley the secondary diafram makes up the gasket. there should be a spring in there to counter the vacuum untill there is enough pressure to open them

Have you tried dripping a bit of wax on the actuation arm where it hooks to the vacuum pod lever and then going out and nailing it?....if the pod works, it should be evident in the wax...

I haven't had the pod apart on my 4100 so I don't know what the innards look like but it likely does have a light spring to counter the action of the induced vacuum from the primary venturis...
