And ... just what is it that makes this rustbucket a Shelby?

Old Carroll would be rolling in his grave if he read this ad! Wait a minute, CS isn't dead yet. Oh well, he'd be pissed anyway!

The trans, rear(should be "N" case), valve covers, hood scoop w/ directionals and a complete "R" code body for cheap money . Not bad. Not a mustang, but a very worthy project.

Could be an interesting project for the right price, although it would take a large amount of cash to complete it. My SWMBO would make me sleep in the garage if I brought home another project like the one I'm working on now. ( I told her that I'd have our 67 Fastback on the road in 6 months, That was 2 years ago and still counting). It's worth a thought though, There may be room for me on top of the washer and dryer.

What I like is that he said "original paint." What, that 3 inch square left on the hood? ;)

I wouldn't be brave enough to try and bring this one home....lol

SWMBO would smack me around something serious!

Dang! Just when I got used to being "strange", I became a "newbie", then a "tire-kicker". Now I'm a "beginner"?.....hmmmmmm...where do I start?

first of all, the car is not a rustbucket. dan i dont know any cars that have sat outside since 1978 in the seattle area, but i bet you this one would blow them away..... regarding carroll shelby.... the torino has the same cobra emblems on the side as my 68 GT 500 so why would he be pissed? is it a shelby, no not really, but it made you look huh? regarding the paint, id estimate 60-70 % of the original paint is there. why is this important? well there is no bondo under original paint. would it be better to go primer the whole thing/hiding the flaws underneath./? no........
yes mikeo it is sort of shabby , and its not a 65 I6 coupe, but it is an R code 428 super cobra jet 4 speed. the rear end tag decodes to a 4.30 detroit locker.... the original 428CJ exhaust manifolds if im not mistaken. . it has c7ae-A heads leading me to believe the motor to be a 390 GT out of a 67 S code mustang thats gotta be worth something to someone. .if this was a mustang sportsroof wouldnt it sell for around 5-6000 $? it certainly needs a full restoration. its a neat car for someone who likes the look of the torinos. is it for everyone? no, so if you dont like it dont bid on it, but it is a worthy project for someon. BTW the corvette is not for sale. hehe

Looks pretty good to me, a good solid foundation for a restoration. If it has the original 4.30 rear and 4 speed it's worth it. The only real problem would be finding the right engine. If it's a factory drag pak car doesn't that spec the 427 "Le Mans" cap screw rods? Very pricey to replace. If I was in Texas that baby would be mine!

Don't let mustang-mania cloud your vision. That Ford is a real fine 60's muscle car. It looks like
the body is straight. The numbers are all there. If I could buy 100 of that car for 500 bucks apiece
I would mortgage the house.

I love the high class engineering that went into connecting the tie down cable to the center of the front bumper. Sort of brings tears to my eyes out of respect and admiration.
