While in the process of converting a 6 cyl to V8, Will the 6 cyl driveshaft mount to a 8/9 inch rear end. This is only temporary until the new motor/tranny combo are ready.
I want to buy the correct drive shaft and only cut once if possible.
Thanks

The only difference between the driveshafts is the U-joints. The I6 are on the inside and the V8 are on the outside. See if you can make enough power to snap an I6 drive shaft. I can't. It will fit fine.

I was unable to find a u-joint that would fit both the driveshaft and the rear. I was told it would have to be cut. IIRC you would probably be better off to get a V8 driveshaft from the salvage yard as the 6 was thinner that the 8 I replaced it with.
