Howdy all.

My car is getting closer to the "I wanna drive it" stage now, and I did
do a few trial runs up on I-355 and I-88 late in the summer.

I was kind of bummed, because the car was difficult to control. Under 45mph,
the car drives great. Over 45mph, the steering did not seem extremely
responsive, and the car had a tendency to jump off line when I hit a bump, or
caught a gust of wind.

I have replaced almost everything except the front springs on this car. I have
replaced: shocks, tie rods, ends, bushings, upper and lower contorl arms, ball
joints, and the steering box was rebuilt.

Can anyone recommend a good place to take it that would really know how to
dial this thing in right? Someplace that specializes in this kind of thing,
and has an expert or two on older cars as well?

The other is where I go but it is in Calumet City; South East auto repair on Burnham ave.

It is a little far for you but, Ernie over at Frame Tech in Tinley Park is EXCELLENT. He is a frameshop and he charges $45 for an alignment. He is old school and did the alignment on many of my cars including the Galaxie, 69 Coupe and 69 Mach(before teardown)

Zim,

I recommend Tire Connections on Finley Rd. in Lombard. They are at Finley & Roosevelt. The owner Mike Cork is very knowledgable and he owns a 72 Mustang Convertible. He can troubleshoot any suspension/steering problem you may have and his alignment guy (Jose)is excellent.Give him a call at (630)620-7616
