Recently, someone posted that the aftermarket spring for the hold open was too long by almost 1/2" and coils should be cut off. I have an original Ford replacement in the original package. It is a "C0DZ-6421232-B SPRING". It measured 2-3/8" after 1 total compression in the vise for 5 minutes. Its length at maximum possible compression is 1-7/16". The space in the hinge setup is right at 1-1/2". I have used Ford replacements several years ago and did not shorten them. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.
