'65 Alternator Wiring

211 8
I have a yellow wire connected to the STA terminal on the back of the alternator.

Looks like the villainous PO set it up. I added the other wire that runs to the choke [on the SUM MV2008].

Going to a MC solid state voltage regulator causes the ALT light to flicker.

Any troublshooting help would be appreciated.

@Woodchuck Sweep with lamp.
Then the following should apply... Do you have an electric choke hooked to the STA post, too? Wire to the STA should be WHITE with a BLACK tracer. Wire to FLD should be WHITE. Wires to BAT should be a YELLOW and a BLACK with YELLOW tracer. Wire to ground should be BLACK with RED tracer.

Black + yellow tracer = BAT
White = FLD
Yellow = black tracer = STA [will move to BAT]
Balck + red tracer = GRD
Black = STA for choke.

Sound right?

Thank you @Woodchuck 12 yo scotch next time you are in AZ?
All except for the missing WHITE with BLACK tracer that should be coming from the regulator "S" terminal to the alternator "STA" post.....
