My car (65) has the original Philco Am radio. The PO had disconnected it so Im trying to get it working again. The 2 wiring diagrams Ive looked at only show 1 power wire and 2 speaker wires but my radio has an additional wire. I assumed this other wire was a ground so when I hooked the radio up all I got was the radio light to come on but no sound. Is this other wire actualy the radio power with the case being the ground? Im unsure that the radios even any good. Visually inside and out it looks OK.

should be a black wire which is your power, and a blue wire with a red stripe which is the light. then there's a speaker plug.

the blue wire plugs into a red 3 junction plug which runs off the headlight switch. then, you should see a single plug up for the radio power under there.

Now that you know what the wires do you may be wondering where the ground is. It grounds through the radio chassis so make sure the radio mounting bracket is connected securely to the radio and the rest of the car.
