I have a '65 fastback that is missing the retaining clip (disc thingy) that holds the spring (rod) in the trunk lid hinge assembly. No luck at the local bone yard.

Anyone know where to find little parts like this? Any alternatives? Is this a standard part I could get from Ford or a hardware store?

You could drill a hole through the torsion bar, slide on a washer and use a cotter key in the hole. On the other hand, there is probably little risk that anything grave would happen without the stock retainer installed. If you have a Home Depot in you neck of the woods, you might just find what you need there. I've seen them in the local store here.

I think that they might have used a few
different type retainers. I just picked up
a spring from a salvage yard and it had a
hole in it so that you could use a cotter
key. My car doesn't have a hole so I went
to the hardware store and picked up a retainer
that looks like a hat that locks on as you
push it on . Works great!
