Well my son turned on the car and the steering column started to smoke.
We took the steering wheel /turn signal assembly apart. and the two spring loaded horn contacts, one of them had bent, broken and make contact with the metal causing a short.
The question for the day!! the unit was a new unit from Dallas Mustang. It was installed last November. I guess it was the typical repo junk.
What turn signal assembly do you out there in VMF land recommend. Are the OEM units still available and if so who has them? The steering is stock except for the steering wheel its a Mustang knock off from Grant.

All repro turn signal switches have exposed rivets on the back side, and they can contact the ground plate of the steering column. Use black electrical tape on the back side of the switch as insulation. Also, use dielectric grease on the back side of the steering wheel to keep the horn contacts from bending under extreme friction.
