I just spent quite a bit of time going through the Small Block Ford book we all bought. According to the book my engine should have the heads machined for the air injection. But the heads do not look like the ones in the book. The windsor heads do not have any external fittings either but have a flat spot near the front. My heads don't have that either. They look like 65 heads.

The engine was built on12/65 and is a level 10. Everything else about the engine matched what the book says it should be. Did any C code engines come with NO provision for smog in 66? The is also no hose going to the air cleaner.

Any thoughts?

That's what it said. I thought since the engine was built in Cleveland it would have the Cleveland heads. It couldn't have Windsor heads since the plant had not opened yet.

Was it only California engines that got the new heads?
