I'm willing to bet there was some heavy duty surgery to the lower portion of those shock towers. When I was putting my 289 back in I was wondering if it was really going to fit for a while. You should contact the owner if you really want to know though. Even the factory drag fastbacks that were equipped with 427s had their shock towers taken out. Who knows?

okay, to the novice, that may appear to be the stock setup, HOWEVER, those towers are definitely modified and appear to be towers from a 67-70 mustang. At any rate, the towers have at least been modified as evidenced by their flat appearance on the side. The point is, trying to shoehorn a Cleveland into the 65/66 engine bay can be done, but it is TIGHT. If you look closely at the pics of the 428 car, the valve covers are nearly resting on the towers....

You can put a C in a 65. We did it to a friends car. Mustangs Unlimited have the headers for this swap, and they cost $389. Hope this helps!!

I would bet he swapped out the shock towers for 69-70 ones. Seen it done that way a number of times in the same area of the country.

Okay, I'm definitely a novice to swaps like this. How tough is it do to a shock tower swap such as this one?
