All,

I took out the center console on my 66 convertible to do some repairs on it, and while it was out, decided to replace the bulb on the gear selector light (automatic transmission). The light still doesn't work with the key to "ON" and I also tried turning the headlights on/off. When I took the console off, I noticed another red/blue wire coming from near the firewall laying on top of the carpet (but under the console) not connected to anything under the console. Would I hurt anything by trying this one? Any other suggestions to try as far as getting the light to work? I did check the connections and they appear to be good, and the connection in the socket looks good too. BTW, pretty new at all this, so sorry if the answer is obvious.

Thanks,

Perry

You won’t hurt anything by trying it. Don’t forget to make sure you’ve got a good ground too.
