Got a glass hood on a 66FB. Appears to have a heavy duty outer frame around the outside edge. Has the hood latch rod area bolted in. Problem is there are no spring on it to hold it up. Is there a prop rod someone offers or lighter duty springs made for glass hoods? Anybody make a prop rod themselves or find something in the junkyard?

There are both light springs and prop rods that are sold. I'm using a prop rod. IIRC it came from Tony Branda.

I use a couple of "billet" aluminum turnbuckles (bought from ACE hardware around $2 each). I simply place them where the hood springs used to go. Since they are turnbuckles, they can be adjusted for whatever amount of openness you want on the hood. Of course, they must be removed when it's time to close the hood. Each end of the turnbuckle has a "hook" so it only takes a second to put them in position and let them hold the hood up. You didn't mention hood pins... I would recommend them if they haven't already been installed.

I've seen a short length of chain, hooked (when the hood's up) where the stock springs would go. This keeps the hood up. Dickson
