66 underdash AC - insulation

Removed the unit this weekend to clean up and found a glob of tarlike insulation around all the metal fittings etc. What can I replace this with, foam pipe wrap or ???

That stuff is to keep the the areas from sweating. Typically it is a cork like tape impregnated with the black goop. Any good A/C shop should have a supply on hand.
