I'm having memory lapse. What is the finish on the plate that is the bottom of the lower ball joint, the one on the bottom that the rivets go through? A picture would be great.

Tim - my original '69 is "rust" finish, just like the rest of the LCA. I assume this means it was originally natural, though I suspect it is some sort of high strength steel so could have been dark gray (like the gun blue finish). Sorry this is a little out of focus;

I'm thinking that it is a dark natural finish too, maybe phosphate? Funny I've got a dozen LCAs around here but none I can discern finish from.

Here is an NOS one. The brace is heat treated and darker, spot welded to the lower arm. The lower bracket was rivited to the arm, it is stamped steel. Rivits dark also. A few out there restore these, it is alot of work.
