will a 79 and newer oil pan bolt up to a 68 block? I need a rear sump pan.

Some more info regarding oil dipstick tube through the pan. I think only the '78-'80 Fox chassis cars had this arrangement and it's a PITA. The fitting on the originals start to leak after awhile. The good news is a repair kit is available. Unfortunately, the guy who fixed mine didn't tell me who makes it (not sure it's Ford or who!).

Certainly after '82 all the 302/5.0 used in Fox chassis cars had the dip stick mounted in the block.

My recommendation for pan would be to use an '82-'84 but get the external load spreading bars the oil pan bolts go through from an '90 -'95 oil pan The load spreading bars prevent the pan lip from warping if over tightened. The oil drain plugs are better located too.

Down side of the '86-'95 oil pans is they have the dopey low oil level sensor fitting. You will have to cut a hole in the pan to mount the oil dipstick fitting.

Regards,
