I am of the opposing opinion. I think this will be very interesting...specifically by doing this you get to keep features of the '68 that are(admittedly subjective) more appealing such as the tail light panel and dashboard design. To be honest, I am not a huge fan of fastbacks to start with and the '69 is in 2rd place in my eyes for fastback design(I like the '65-66 design best, leaves more of a trunk and the lines flow better into the quarters) but even so, I am interested to see a custom blended car. Resale value of course would be questionable, but I am much more a fan of the build process than anything else anyway.

IMO the 67/68 tail lights are the best looking of any year. I would modify the extensions and tail light panel to retain them(I guess that is no surprise considering I fabricated a new tail light panel on my '66 to be more like an inverted version of the '67). I am curious as to what the end curb weight comes out to though. I really like the 69 fastback style...but they have always been too heavy for me to want to mess with.

Interested to see what you do for the tail light panel....not many people willing to tackle something like that. I made a custom one myself for my '66:

Not finished or anything, but I really did not like the stock 65-66 tail lights(getting the crease correct to match the bezels is a lot of work, still ended up with more filler than I would like)

That's a quick update? Going from primered body work and major body mods to fully painted? I really need to make more quick updates then, I am working at a snail's pace . How did the tail light panel end up?

I am very interested in this, quite a bit cheaper than the MTF one.
Really? Aren't they both like $550 or so? I have heard bad fitment stories about the TMI piece...but maybe they have fixed those issues by now.
