Couldn't you get a fully restored one like this for maybe $15,000 more?

You could definitely get a restored one for less than it would take to do this car.

Assuming that you farm out the following work: $10K for paint/body, $8K for the drivetrain (once you found all the pieces), $10K for everything else. That is $50K total (including purchase price) and you would NOT have an MCA concours car.

You could buy one of the nicest ones in the country for $50K.

Maybe that price if it had the engine and trans, but a rolling shell... ???

And 8k for the drive train, seems low to do it right. I've seen complete '68 S code air cleaner and smog setups go for $1500+!

Even with the nice options seem a bit high.... not sure of the current market but, yes, I'd agree +15/20k should get you a nice car of similar pedigree.

It would be a beautiful car done properly...
