what type of metal is the 68 front fender ext.made out of?
steel,stainless,or?........i need some repair on mine that i bougth off VMF that was in great shape.( NOT )....please help...

The fender exts. and quarter extensions are made of pot metal about the only thing I have found to fix them is epoxy.

My understanding is YES, but only with highly specialized equipment. I believe it is some sort of Laser welding system. I can't remember who, but someone here on VMF has the equipment and has successfully welded things like door handles.

Sorry it doesn't really help. I'm in the same boat. Mine have cracks from an accident that a PO had a LONG TIME ago.

on my '68 the tab that goes to lower front was broken off so i got some steel sheet material from Home Depot and made one just like it and then riveted it in and filled with epoxy - can't see it underneath. also use narrow strips on top and bottom for support. you did not mention what part of yours was problem. local welder that does everything refused to work on it. PM me if questions.
