"good condition"...20-25K. I don't think the area matters too much for the CS. It does if you are just talking "plain old" Mustangs.

Of course, "good condition" is pretty open. Maybe more, maybe less depending on how good or bad.

20-25K?? Not a prayer -- for that money I can get into Boss 302 territory, nice Mach 1, etc. I would say a similar premium to what a '65-66 GT gets over a regular coupe; that is, 10-15%.

I'd say no more than $20K even if it's in Concours Trailered condition. The base GT/CS is worth about $10K in #1 condition. The 390 adds $4K (if it's running and doesn't need a rebuild) and the GT equipment group is worth about $3K. Other options such as A/C, etc. could bring it to $20K.

I have seen the 302 GT/CS coupes go for 6k-12k. With a 390 im not too sure, but since its a big block, maybe around 15k-18k. That is if it is in at least daily driver condition.

Mach1Pilot. Do you have more pics of your Mach 1? I think it's the same as ours is supposed to be. Black Jade.

Thanks,
Adrien

Jerry Heasley publishes a Mustang price guide and rates a #1 GT/CS at 10k add 2500.00 for the GT group to a #1and #2 car. Add 25% for a 390 and... if you're lucky enough to find a GT/CS with a 428 CJ it tops out at 25k.
Unless you're a die hard collector, buy a nice 68 coupe and add the GT/CS cosmetics. I've only found a few worth the 12k price tag and NEVER found one worth 20k-25k. I'd rather own a Boss 302/351 for that price. (With the exception of the GT/CS 428CJ)

I'd love to see a #1 CS for less than 20K. I'd buy one if it existed. I am hard pressed to believe you can get something descent for less than 20K.

Same for a nice boss 302...

Mine used to be Black Jade with the gold stripe. It is now Raven Black with the red stripe. For a good picture of Black Jade, use these links:

Black Jade Mach 1 front view
Black Jade Mach 1rear view

Both photos were taken with the sun shining directly on the side of the car, but note the darker look when the viewing angle changes.

The reason I did not stay with Black Jade is that, although it can look very pretty, it often looks clearly olive/Army green and, as it fades with age, that is the color that it fades to. For a picture of old Black Jade paint, click on this link and note how mine looked when I first got it. I will admit that when I first saw the pictures at the links above I almost changed my mind. /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

JJ-
I have seen a number of very nice (probably high #2s)GT/CS with fairly standard equipment... AC, 289/302, C4 etc for 12k-14k. Only ever seen one R code. That was a #4 car and the owner was asking 18k. Still pretty pricey but probably worth it. Check out traderonline.com and you'll see an occasional GT/CS.

Wayde...
Thanks for the tip. I'd love to have a CS. Don't care about the motor, just that it's not automatic. I'd sell my car in a minute up here (NH, pretty good $$ market for Stangs up here) if I could get into a CS.

In good condition (not restored) I would guess $8500-9500 at best, A little more in the east than the west.

I assume that your referring to a S code and not a X code Calif Spec

BTW currently own a Calif Spec and have owned and helped build approx 8
