got a line on a 68 gt vert, says gt on the buck tag.no time to wait for a marti report.everything looks to be GT,except it has all drum brakes.floors have been replaced, not a great job;both rear quarters done ok,but one has a dent in it.gaps are very close but not perfect;nice black top and interior.J code, all there, runs, leaks oil;power steering, auto trans is a little sloppy;trunk is clean.needs exhaust, some floor touch ups,1 fwd torque box,new fuel and brake lines and e-brake cable;engine rebuild ;paint and chrome.Lots of surface rust underneath front to rear and on everything.sounds like 15 to 18 grand work, to add to his asking price of 16,000.how much more is this car worth when redone ,than the same 68,non GT,vert in very nice restored cond??what do you think of his asking price?Or do I get a plain jane and do it up??need mustangers advice!!

16,000 he is entitled to ask what he wants... IMHO he is out of his mind... sounds like he has the infamous " it's worth gold" mentality. WALK...NO RUN... let some a hole get screwed... converts are expensive to do right, and wouldnt you want to ? offer him 8,000 or but the one on here for 8,000 j-code covert ..bla bla bla... JMO ::

Running and driving vert for 8K would need a few more positives about it that don't need repair. J code, tho good, does not cost any money to fix. Neither does "GT" cost money to fix. For 8K on this car it would need to not have a couple of large items in good shape. "Visiable-to-the-untrained- poor workmanshipcounts as "needs repair" no diffenent than if the rust was still there.. Look closer to the 6K, if a true J code GT with original motor/trans. Otherwise, if it is what you want to have, be there with the most$$$..
